Pet Dental Care at PetVet Animal Health Center

PetVet Animal Health Center is a strong advocate for pet dental care and its importance in your pet’s overall health. To better our dental services, our veterinarians dedicate their time to pursue continuing education in oral health. In short, your pet’s dental health is in the best of hands at our animal hospital.

Our Dental Health Procedures

While routine human dental cleanings are typically simple and easy going, pet dental care involves a bit more of an in-depth procedure. Anesthesia is used to sedate your pet so that our veterinarians can fully examine their mouth and our technicians can perform a thorough and complete cleaning.

Before we place your pet under anesthesia, we perform bloodwork and a physical exam to ensure they are fit enough for the procedure. We then tailor the anesthesia administration to be just what your pet needs—no more, no less.

During every dental cleaning, we:

  • Check for periodontal pockets
  • Take a full set of dental x-rays (because a majority of the tooth structure is under the gingiva and out of plain sight)
  • And of course, clean and polish the teeth.

We have the skill and proper equipment to perform a number of dental procedures including:

  • Dental scaling and polishing
  • Extraction of broken or diseased teeth
  • Endodontic treatment of fractured teeth (root canal)
  • Treatment of feline stomatits (inflammation of a cat’s mouth and gums)
  • Removal of oral tumors
  • Minor orthodontic issues

At-Home Pet Dental Care

The best line of defense against periodontal disease is regular maintenance of your pet’s mouth. As your pet’s daily caretaker, that responsibility falls partly to you. We understand that brushing a pet’s teeth everyday can sometimes be a bit more than you can chew. Luckily, we offer a range of dental healthcare products that make at-home pet dental care a breeze. Remember, though, that just like your dental care, nothing beats a good brush.

We carry the following products:

  • HealthyMouth Water Additive
  • Purina DH Diets
  • Hill’s Prescription Diet T/D
  • Tartar Shield Soft Rawhide Chews
  • OraVet Chews

Each of these products is approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC). VOHC Accepted products are tested and proven to do exactly what they say they’ll do. This provides complete assurance that your pet is getting the care they deserve.
